Bay Racing and the AC World Series

The Yacht Racing Association has sent out the 2012 master schedule to local clubs and associations for them to start filling in their races. Two weeks (eight weekends) are blacked out for America's Cup World Series racing: August 17-26, and September 14-23, a busy time on the Bay. "The Cityfront and Central Bay will most likely be unavailable for races during these events," notes YRA Executive Director Laura Muñoz. She needs the race coordinators to send her their events by October 14. A calendar meeting will follow.

Yachtman and Yachtswoman Nominations

US Sailing is now accepting nominations for its 2011 Rolex Yachtsman and Yachtswoman of the Year awards. Through November 30, every member of US Sailing may nominate the one male and one female sailor they think has turned in the most outstanding on-the-water performance during the 2011 calendar year. Nominations can be made online at http://about.ussailing.org/Awards/Rolex.htm. The awards ceremony will take place in San Francisco on February 23, 2012, during a luncheon at St. Francis YC.
