Redwood Cup

December 24, 2013

On Saturday, December 21, Sequoia Yacht Club ran the second race of the five-race Redwood Cup series. Twelve skippers escaped holiday chores and sailed on a beautiful winter day. It was warm and sunny with flat water and 10-knot winds. The 9.8-mile course included four mark roundings, with reaching and running sections, resulting in frequent lead changes. All boats finished in less than three hours, leaving plenty of time for the after-race festivities.

The Antrim 27 Head Rush, skippered by Charlie Watt, took the lead on the last leg to win. In second place was Tracy Rogers on the J/88 Relentless followed by Mike Reed on Magic, an Express 27, and Rich Butts the J/105 Melilani.
