Last month, Michael Reppy took his trimaran Dolphin Spirit out the Gate for a sail to check out some new gear. His goal was to begin an attempt on the singlehanded record from San Francisco to Japan this spring. The disastrous 9.0 earthquake in Japan has set back his plans, but let's go for a spin with him and see how the big tri feels under sail.
